ABOUT US
As a community of people created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit – We commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the community, and the world.
OUR VISION
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” Matthew 28: 18-20
WHAT WE DO
“Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, extend hospitality to strangers.” Romans 12: 9-12
OUR COMMUNITY
Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, located on the southwest side of Yosemite National Park, Mariposa County is home to 18,000 residents and host to millions of tourists each year. Mariposa Lutheran Church is one of twenty Christian communities serving this mostly rural area.
MEET OUR PASTOR
Pastor Sharon Amundson moved to Mariposa with her family in 2004. She worked for many years as a self-employed Certified Public Accountant. As a lifelong Lutheran and a Pastor’s daughter, she and her family were active at Mariposa Lutheran and in the community. Shortly after moving to Mariposa, she began studying for her Master’s in Divinity with a plan to seek ordination. She became our Vicar in 2016, and was ordained as our Pastor in January of 2018. Her love of God and love of the people of God shines through in her preaching and teaching.
